This weekend was MoCCA Fest!!! I went with Brian and [livejournal.com profile] kittasaurusrex. We spent 5 hours on the exhibitor floor amassing a bunch of free comics and cards and stuff while also buying comics and other stuff.

The highlight of the day was finally meeting JEPH JACQUES!!!!!! OMG!!!! For those of you who have no idea who that is, he is the creator of one of my favorite Webcomics Questionable Content. I had previously written an entry about meeting some very awesome people through his live streaming of drawing his comic. So, when I met Jeph, after having a moment of squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, I told him that, "if not for [his] streams, I would have never met this great lady next to me or all the other people I converse with on a daily basis." To which he said "That's awesome!" I also got to shake his hand.

I had him sign my Questionable Content volume 1 book. He drew Pintsize :-P Brian bought a QC Mug and a print (but not the one he did for MoCCA, that one Kitt bought).

Afterwards, we went to an Indian Restaurant on the opposite corner. The food was delicious, but we'll likely never go back there again for reasons I pointed out on Twitter.

Brian and I missed the train we wanted to catch by about 3 mins. Thankfully, we only had to wait an hour for the next one (had we taken the PJ line, we'd have had to wait 2 hours for the next one).

This weekend was spent in Piscataway, NJ at the Steampunk World's Fair. I went there not knowing what to expect, as I didn't actually understand what the genre was. I did many things ranging from learning about Victorian archetecture to watching a hysterically funny circus street show, and a super awesome fire show done by Hubris! The music acts ranged from absolutely fucking awful (so awful I can't remember the names) to really super awesome, like Coyote Run and the Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band :-D

The cabaret was looooong. I was in and out throughout...waiting for the end of it at which time the Burlesque Show would happen. I was really pleased to see both women and men of all shapes and sizes performing in the show. We didn't get back to our hotel room until almost 4am. eep!

Other highlights of the weekend include:

Getting to hang out with people I rarely ever do anymore.

Bumping into [livejournal.com profile] thecatinthehat :-P

Hula hoops, even though I suck at it. It was the people around that made it fun.

Complimentary alcoholic drink and any additional $1.75 each at Embassy Suites just because we were staying the night. Super sweeeeet :)

Complimentary buffet breakfast. Nom nom nom.

Jacuzzi this morning. Soooo relaxing :-D

I got a really nifty purple Victorian hat. I might just have to take a picture of it with my webcam.
