Over the last couple of weeks, I have been experiencing way too much anxiety for my own good. The source of my anxiety stems from this:

As of May 1st, my parents are downgrading to a 1-bedroom apartment in the same complex we are living in currently because they simply cannot afford the rent hike that would come starting in June when their lease would roll over. However, the complex does not allow more than 2 people to live in a 1-bedroom apartment. If they did, I'd sleep in the extra little room. It'd be no different from my current living arrangement as I live in the living room here.

So, I'm moving in with Brian. I've wanted to do this for a while now, but not under these circumstances. I don't have any money to my name or a job. I'm still going to QC. Needless to say, it's going to be a very stressful time until I can get a source of income. Not that Brian cannot fully support both of us on his own, because he very much can (and has for quite some time) but there are added stressors as well. ALL of my stuff is going into storage. All of it. The only things that will be with me at his place are my clothes, my laptop, and some important incidentals. Everything else? Storage. Not happy about it, but there's literally no space for any of my stuff!

Personally, I'd like to live in a place that is only occupied by Brian and I. This isn't a knock on his housemates; I love them dearly and it was actually through my being friends with them that Brian was able to move in in the first place.

I'll be spending my entire Spring Break moving into Brian's room. Spring Break for me starts the Monday immediately following I-CON and goes through April 26th. I will need all the help I can get to move at least the boxes over to Brian's storage unit. I worry about my furniture and getting it out through the front door because I built it all inside the apartment; it's never once been through that door assembled (or *any* door. Remember: living in living room). It's also solid and quite heavy (this isn't IKEA furniture) and aside from having to take it down a flight of stairs, there's a long pathway to get from the apartment to the parking lot. I'm very seriously considering hiring movers. With what money? I have no idea...

We survived the Parental Units finally meeting each other for the first time! :-D Brian and I are so happy that they all got along. ::breathes HUGE sigh of relief::. I drove back from Huntington tonight. I hate motorcycles!!! ::grumbles::

Fireworks we saw along the way back to Brian's were gorgeous :)

Did anyone catch the MACY's Fireworks Spectacular???? If you did, let me know if you saw me and/or [livejournal.com profile] warkythechocobo during the LeAnn Rimes segment!!!

The things I do to only make one trip from the car to the apartment.

Friday nights are both Laundry Day and Grocery Day. My dad does the laundry while mom and I go grocery shopping. As my mom is standing at the Deli counter, I take the cart and do most of the rest of the shopping. Mom usually catches up to me a few aisles down, but tonight, I made it all the way to the dairy case. Deli people were slooooow!

Anyway, fast forward to after we leave the store... Mom calls my dad who says he's now folding the laundry... so, instead of going home first to drop off the groceries, we went directly to the Laundromat. I had a decision to make: Do I carry the wet clothing basket? or do I lug all of the groceries? Tonight I chose the latter. I hung the majority of bags on my arm, with the rest of them in tow in a really small cart.

This was an hour ago. At this point, my arm is still red and burny, but I'd be damned if I had to walk back to the car. LOL!

As a handful of my friends head off to Cockeysville, MD (Hunt Valley) for Balticon 44, I am on Long Island for the weekend.

Mom took the day off as a vacation day, so she and I had an epic morning. We went to breakfast at the diner down the road from me (Island Grill), which we hadn't been to since the time that the new management and waitstaff failed at life and the food sucked a few years ago. We took our chances and decided to go there anyway. I'm glad we did! Breakfast was tasty, though the waitstaff could have come by a bit more than just that one time when my mom was already done with her meal. Meh. :-P We didn't need more coffee anyway.

After breakfast, we headed to the Holtsville Ecology Center to go to the zoo. YAY!! I love going there! The animals are so cute, and no matter how many times we go, it's always a different experience. And you can't beat FREE. :)

Highlights from the trek to the zoo include:

- Bobcat climbing down the fence from all the way at the top of its enclosure (this is the new Bobcat that is being housed in the spot where the Raccoon used to be, until it becomes acclimated enough to be moved in with the other Bobcat).

- Not one, but TWO Peacocks had their tail feathers in full display today!! I haven't seen a Peacock display its tail feathers in many many years. It is truly a rare opportunity to see that. They had them up for a good 45 mins before one of them rescinded theirs, and the other one continued to display :-D

- In said Peacock/Peahen enclosure, one Peahen was near the back fence where one of the Sandhill Cranes was poking at his side of the fence. This was going on while one of the Peacocks was trying to get the Peahens attention, so I said to my mom that there has to be a love affair going on between the Peahen and the Sandhill Crane. "The Peacocks just don't understand our love!!"

- The Bears were chillen out in their enclosure. One was laying in the shade near the back fence, and the other was laying on the cement in the shade that's nearby the hamock that is in the sun. This Bear was in full sprawl mode with one of its legs in the air. So adorable :)

It's days like this that I really wish I owned a frakking Camera! I am sad to say that my favorite chickens, the Fancy "Punk Rocker" Chickens, were not in their enclosure today. :(

So, now I am back home and about to start prep of tonight's dinner: Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce and Cucumber Salad, all from scratch! :)

So, this weekend was awesome, though it would have been even more awesome if I got more Brian time.

Brian, Janet and myself went to Subway on Friday for dinner and then met up with Nolan at Borders. Brian bought me "Uncle John's Bathroom Reader Plunges into Music". It's sooooo awesome! :-D

Saturday, I walked 4.2 miles with Brian and Jocelyn (my friend Dave's girlfriend) from Brian's house to Carvel on Portion Road and back. Then, around 4-ish, my mom called me and asked if I wanted to go to Lancaster, PA for the night so we could have Amish Breakfast in the morning. She didn't have to twist my arm for that one :) So, my family picked me up from Brian's and we were on our way around 6pm. Sweeeeeeeet! The last time the whole family went to Lancaster, PA together was back in 1998 when my brother was at Oswego. Craziness. I'm also pretty sure that was the last time we all went on Vacation together (Weddings don't count as vacations).

We stopped at Molly Pitcher for dinner (we got Roy Rogers..yum yum yum) and we got to our final destination of Ronx, PA (which is right by Stasburg) around 11pm. Rt 222 is a dangerous road to travel on at night because there are no overhead lights and deer cross the highway often. ::sigh::

This morning, we woke up and went to Hershey Farm for breakfast. Mmm...sticky buns, scrapple, baked french toast, baked oatmeal, and shoo fly pie. :-D As well as an array of typical breakfast foods. Then we bought some Chow Chow and went outside to look at the goats. While being amused by their antics, Scott suggested we take a trip to Atlantic City. He and I were never there and mom did want to go to the beach today to walk along the shore. So, we packed into the car and headed to Atlantic City. On the way out of Lancaster, there were many many cows on farms with some horses and donkeys. But yay cows!! :-D

When we got to Atlantic City, we walked along the boardwalk and then on the sand for a bit. Then it was time to go to a casino. My dad was tired, so instead of walking to Taj Mahal like we quasi planned, we went to Bally's, where I won $24.50 playing the 25¢ machine!!! Huzzah! My brother was ahead at the blackjack table and then the dealer started getting consecutive blackjacks. Damn stacked Cards. So, I split my winnings with Scott (it was his money I was playing with.) My mom had $5 and she put it in a 25¢ machine...down to 5 credits, Scott and I told her to play all 5..and she ended up winning $12.50!! :-D After that, we went to this mall that extends over the water and bought some Salt water taffy.

On our way home, we stopped in Brooklyn for dinner. We went to Original Pizza in Mil Basin (we have nostalgic ties to that pizza place). It was just as delicious as we remembered it to be :-D

And that was my weekend. We just got home about an hour ago.

What did you do this weekend?

Sooooo...this weekend started off craptastic and then ended up being spectacular :-D

Saturday: Parents were driving home from the store when a jackass who didn't speak English hit into them at the corner of Granny Road and North Ocean Avenue (83). They ended up having to call the police because he had an out of date insurance card. Assessment of the damage: Just a huge dent on the passenger side in the back right after the door. What got damaged: Bumper and Side Panel. Pricing approximation: $2K of damage. Amount of money my parents have to pay: $0. It's being covered by the shit head's insurance company. We're getting a rental tomorrow, also paid for by them.

After dealing with that, I went on a quest with Gushi to New Jersey where he houses his servers because he had to fix one of them. I-Con's server also needed maintenance so it was convenient that Gushi was already out there for another server. After everything was fixed, we went to Manhattan and I got to meet his father. He's a retired NYC cop and is an author of detective stories, so he lent me a copy of one of his books (Black and White) to read.

Then we went to dinner at Moonstruck diner. Wow, patrons can be really mean to the waitstaff. I wouldn't be surprised if they had their food spit in.

After fooding, we went back to Gushi's dad's place for a bit. He's a really nice guy :-D And then we headed back to the Keep to go sleep. We got back there at around 5:30am. Slept till wayyyy too late in the day and then we had really flaky tasty bisquits and watched the PETA episode of Penn and Teller's Bullshit. What an awesome show. I had to go home after that, so Gushi drove me home. I was surprised my mom didn't kill me for not calling considering she had called me earlier in the day sounding all pissed. Meh.

And that's how my weekend went from craptistic to spectacular :-D Gushi is a lot of fun to be with :)
