ProTip: Never take 18 credits in one semester. No matter how tempting it is to get classes out of the way, DON'T. DO. IT. EVER!

As of yesterday at 6:30pm, Fall 2010 semester from HELL finally ended!! So, what do I have to show for it? Enough sleep dep to last a lifetime. And after all my effort that I exuded for DOOM project, my professor rejected my chapter. Thankfully, he has given me an incomplete (and there were 4 other people that got rejected as well, so I'm not the only one). If he had failed me, I don't know what I would have done. The class is extremely difficult and my one *absolute requirement* to graduate with my degree. ::Headdesk::

Speaking of graduating, Queens College isn't offering any classes I actually need next semester. So far, I'm signed up for 2 classes, but that's not enough to reach 12 credits. I'm so sick of college it's not even funny. Can I *please* go back to being a Music Ed major... please?!!! Sadly, the only way that can happen is if I transfer again, and that's not happening. I learned my lesson the first time :(

So, aside from being eaten by finals, I've been keeping myself occupied on my commutes, when not travelling with #crankys, by listening to podcasts. If you guys aren't listening to The Chronic Rift or Fanboy Remix, you really should be. They're both really great. I tweet about them all the time, but I guess I've never actually mentioned them here. I'll leave that for another post, that I actually have time to write because I'm done for the semester!! ::ahem::

Before I close this post out, I'd like to Welcome all my new readers (and welcome back an old one) that have cropped up over the last month: [livejournal.com profile] tarzanic, [livejournal.com profile] amandanoelle82, [livejournal.com profile] yendi, [livejournal.com profile] hiatazealo, and [livejournal.com profile] drewshi!! You're all awesome :)

I cringe at the thought of 18 credits being a vacation...

My highest credit load was either 27 or 28, I can't remember which.

Sheesh! When did you have time to breathe?? And I know you had quite the social life when you were in Seattle. How the hell did you manage to pull that off?!

well, the social time was in my last 2 years which was less classes and more clinic time so it was a bit different. My 1st few years was pretty lacking socially.

I was lucky in that for me it was mostly just the sheer volume of classes. Comprehension was easy for me. I think some people had it harder in that they had to spend time trying to understand things too.

That makes more sense then :-P

For me, it was the sheer volume of workload. Sure, I had a 5 hour break on Tuesdays. Very rarely did I get to do something that wasn't school related in that time frame. It was awful :(

I remember what I used to do was no matter what (unless I had a weekend class), I set aside from friday afternoon (I was usually done by around 3pm) until I woke up on saturday to relax. I would go grocery shopping and pickup a movie or 2 and I would just kick back. That helped alot.

My DOOM project class took away most of my weekends :( It was a bad idea to take that class during an 18 credit semester. Seriously.

This is my first day I get to really relax. Last Thursday, when I had my only day off during finals week, I was home, but I had to study, so relaxing wasn't truly existant.

Remember, you want your brain in your head, not oozing out your ears. (I know that now.)

Would it make more sense to do just the two classes? Or maybe make sense to wait a term or two nd (I hope) do a few more classes at once?

And here's to the crankys for keeping you sane! Sane-ish. You know what I mean.

Yeah... brains oozing out of my ears would be a bad thing. It started to happen around the end of October. :-\

Sadly, no. Two classes amounts to 6 credits. Not enough to keep my Financial Aid... I must be a full time (12 credit) student in order to keep it. ::sigh:: And unfortunately, if I take off a term, I'm more likely to *not* want to return. I hate it THAT MUCH.

And yes, the #crankys do keep me sane-ish, at least on my commutes... mainly because I actually have people to vent my commuting frustrations to AND THEY GET IT!! :)

Long story short: I have been an Environmental Studies major since Fall 2009.

Short story slightly longer: I was forced out of the major because Smith hates me and I couldn't pass the Listening exams worth a damn.

blergh. i hate that school.

think of it this way: if you were MusEd youd have to take 18 credits a semester PLUS uncredited performance clsases that wont fit because youve got all your other fucking requirements

I don't think it would have gotten to 18 credits... but observation time would have been difficult to juggle.
