I had a blast this weekend!!! I went with Brian to the 4th annual Great South Bay Music Festival. We had so much fun! We didn't go on Friday, so I didn't get to see War, however, we were there both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday: Arrived around 1:30pm. Bumped into Wendy and Mark. We saw Buzzuniverse in the cultural tent. They were really awesome. Then we ventured over to the Main Stage and saw The Point and Reckoning. During the Main Stage sets, there was a HUGE downpour. Brian and I got soaked!!! Shortly before the downpour happened, a woman from Newsday.com came up to us and asked if she could take a couple of pictures. Brian had his Devil Sticks with him, so she took an action shot and a picture of he and I together. I uploaded the 2nd picture here. The 1st picture was not to be found amongst the picture galleries. During Reckoning, I headed to the Kidzone Tent to see Squeaky Clean, whom I have not seen since my days working at Hidden Pond Day Camp. Glenn gave me their CD for free. :-D They're awesome!
After Squeaky Clean, I ventured back over to Main Stage to find Brian and we decided to have dinner, while listening to The Bridge on the Main Stage. We had time to kill before The New Deal was to be on stage, so we walked back to the Culture Tent. On the way there, I bumped into a woman I went to Suffolk Community College with that I hadn't seen in about 8 years. We caught each other up on our lives and then listened to U-Melt. While over there, Brian was approached by a man with a video camera. He filmed Brian playing with his Devil Sticks. Brian might end up on the DVD they are making for the Festival. Sweeeeeeeeeet! We also watched a very amusing dog show.
It was getting close to the time when The New Deal was to perform, so we made our way back to the Main Stage and found a good spot to stand in order to dance like lunatics. And dance like lunatics we did!!!! The New Deal is a Livetronica Jam Band. Drummer, Bassist, and Keyboardist. HOLY SHIT THEY ARE FUCKING AWESOME!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! ::ahem::
After The New Deal, Brian and I decided to call it a night and drove home.
Sunday: Woke up around 9:30am. Wow were we knocked out. Finally got back to the festival around 2pm. Sunday was a different atmosphere than Saturday. We did a bit more wandering this day. At 3:40, Silent Generosity performed in the Cultural Tent. They put on an amazing show! I hadn't seen them since they played at the Patchogue Theater back in January 2007. So, I was really excited to get to see them again :) They were giving out their Live at The Bitter End CD, so I snagged one.
We decided to walk over to the pier and sit for a bit and watch the water. It was really nice. Afterwards, we decided to leave the Festival and go to Smithpoint to fly a kite. There really is no beach left. It's kinda sad. Apparently, every night after 5pm there is Live music there. Cool :) Thankfully parking is Free after 5 (or is it after 6?) and we didn't have to pay to park.
I drove from Smithpoint back to Patchogue so we could get Thai food for dinner. Yumy! We brought it back to my place to eat, and then Brian went home.
All in all a GREAT weekend! :-D
