Brian and I had the most insulting experience yesterday when we decided to return the DVDs that his mom got us for the holidays.

We walked into Best Buy, the one in E Setauket on 347 in Suffolk County, with the two DVDs and the receipt for them. We saw the return line, which is at the entrance, and entered. 15 mins later, we were at the front of the line and we get called to the register. First, the woman who is behind the register asked us if we had our DVDs in a bag when we walked in and we said no. Then she walks away for a bit and comes back stating that we needed a pink sticker on our items to return them. o_O What pink sticker? Where are we supposed to get a pink sticker from? Apparently, when we walked in, we were supposed to get a pink sticker from the guy who was standing at the entrance, who we walked past to go to the fucking return line. How were we supposed to know that we have to get a pink sticker from this guy if 10 he didn't stop us when we went onto the line and 2) it wasn't even written on the Policies sign that they have on the wall that you can read while you wait an eternity to return your shit? So, she walks away yet again...probably to see the video of when we walked in and she's gone for quite a while. At this point Brian and I are thinking oh shit, they are going to arrest us for trying to return DVDs that were never opened and we have the g-d damn receipt for!!

Fast forward to when she finally returns... She says, "So, the person who gave you these DVDs as gifts ripped off the price tag so that you wouldn't know how much they spent for them, and then gave you the receipt for them anyway so you can return them and you see how much was spent on them anyway?"

Well...DUH! Asshole!! Haven't you ever received a gift before with the tag removed?! Common sense people!!

So, then she decides that we get a store credit for this (the DVDs were purchased with cash, so technically we should have gotten actual money for returning them) and then takes Brian's full name, home number, driver's license, and then asks for the name and phone number of the person who gave the DVDs to us. Blacklisted anyone?

I've never EVER experienced anything like that from returning a gift in my entire life!! What the Fuck Best Buy?! What the Fucking FUCK!

Never again shall I grace you with my presence. FUCK YOU!

O_O Whoa, thats a shitload of fuck. Best Buy gets really effin' stupid with some of their return polices. What you should have said in response was "Well, maybe if you guys had GIFT RECIPTS this whole thing would could have been avoided.". I don't know ANY parent or individual that would, knowingly, leave a price tag on a gift for someone- people always remove them. Gotta love some brain-dead people....

I had a similar experience with Best Buy. It is why I boycott them... well one of several reasons, if you saw how much they ass-raped their employees pay-wise...

I would take this all ready written complaint and find out if they have a customer feedback option on their website. Include the store credit number and if it has the cashier number ect in the email.

And at that point I would end the letter with I would like this credit refunded, I would like a check sent to me at my address X, as I have no intention of soliciting your establishment after this prior experience.

Fortunately I haven't had to return anything in a long time. In general it's a complete bitch and pretty much impossible with anything like games/movies. The Best Buys I've been in recently have been doing other fun things like taking the prices off the sale items and then telling people the wrong prices for them so they don't buy the best deals.

While there may have been more nastiness in person, I can tell you that the procedure is not unique to best buy, since it sounds a lot like the hoops I had to jump through at my old store.

One part of the job of the Door Security Guard, is to issue people with product in their hands, a slip indicating that it was brought into the store and not picked up while you were walking around. He is not just a "greeter"

With a line of people, she should have been experienced enough to be able to conduct the return in a minimum of time. Complaining to the manager would simply get her moved to another position.

Oh yes, Best Buy. I too hate them, but the Elmhurst one especially earned my ire. So I used that price match guarantee they have, and they gave me an item for even LESS than it was on sale for because they are stupid. I still had to jump through hoops though, so I said nothing. fuck em!

I have found the staff at that Best Buy to be particularly surly. I mean, I know it's "that time of year" and everyone is probably stressed out, but the staff I have encountered the last couple of times I was in there were all unhelpful and really bitchy. D:

Huh... I was in there last friday and bought Weeds season 2. Got home and noticed there was no DVD inside said case. Went straight back there. She gave me no problems and I ended up spending more money -_-.

lol that happened to me at Walmart last year cause the pricetag was gone off the corner of a video game (a gift) but I had the freaking receipt. I got a gift card, lame. Did NOT want a Walmart gift card.

And happy new years~ 明けましておめでとうございます
