I-CON 27 Report

Another I-CON has come and gone and now I give to you my CON report:
Friday: Went to school and stayed only for Theory, to ensure that I would not miss my train to Stony Brook. I got to Stony around 2pm and headed to the ISC to pick up my badge, and in doing so bumped into
page_of_swords, and then I was off to the 4m!
Doors opened around 5pm for the general public to get their badges and I did my yearly heckle the non-reg line spiel. It was fun. I bumped into my friends Melanie and Hilton from Scruffolk, which was cool. Then I wandered over to the Pre-reg line. I was met with a familiar face, one who I never thought I'd ever see again. It was Neils. There is photo evidence of this occurance :-D Huzzah!
Around 6pm, I went into the Green Room for some chow. While there, I bumped into John Sheehan. We talked for a bit and then a man approached us asking where Betsy Palmer's table is. Betsy followed a few minutes later. Apparently she owns a Collie named Bonnie.
I went to the Brobdingnagian Bards concert (in lieu of RHPS, because Bards trump Rocky any day). The concert was awesome, as always! :-D Then, I met up with Brian and we wandered around a bit. We ended up going to the History of Ghoul-a-Gogo panel which ended up just being Creighton and 6 of us hanging out just bullshitting. It was awesome! :) After wandering around a bit more and bumping into my friend Emily from QC, we headed to the BSG Season 4 premiere. Damn you I-CON for getting me back on the BSG Bandwagon!!! I sat next to Adam Martin (friend from HS) and discovered later that
jedisam was sitting next to Marc Gunn of the Brobdingnagian Bards. Lucky bastard :-P
Brian and I called it a night because we were exhausted. I headed back to the house with
centur21 and her boyfriend Sean so that they wouldn't get lost.
Saturday: We wandered back to campus around 10am. Brian and I hit the dealer's floor. He bought some t-shirts, a Bag of Devouring, and a bunch of dice. He also picked up Order of the Stick books. Too bad he didn't realize after buyting the 1st book that the booth right next to that one was selling them at 20% off. Oh well :-P We walked by the booth that sells Medieval Garb and decided that the display would look really nice on Brian. :-D
We parted ways during lunch time. I grabbed my lunch and after having to talk to a bunch of people and point my brother in the direction of Pre-reg,
alorarose, my brother, I headed to the SAC to meet up with Brian. Then, it was off to see the Brobdingnagian Bards concert. Once again, awesome awesome show! :) After the show
phantomtoe and
auntiesiannan came over to me. Pictures were taken, and then Auntie and myself decided to Rickroll I-CON. Everyone, who was within earshot of she and I, got an earful of Rick Astley. It was truly epic lulz. After that, we (my brother,
alorarose, and I) headed to Uncle Kage's Story Hour so that we could hang out with Amy and Joe. Kage's stories were amusing.
Then it became time for the wedding of
mikeprime and
misscheesywig2 in the circle behind the Physics Lawn. They looked awesome and the ceremony was beautiful (from what I could actually hear..). The Brobdingnagian Bards played the song for which the wedding party marched to.
Cabaret: 7pm came along and it was time to start setup/soundcheck for Cabaret. All of my staff was on time (except for Ryan, but he had a babysitting excuse). They were absolutely wonderful and setup went quite smoothly. The sound people were awesome this year. I did a walkthrough with them to make sure that they were aware what would be played when and who needs special things and whatnot, and they were very cooperative. I got to speak with Tim Russ for a bit before the show started. Oooh, and I saw
thecatinthehat very briefly while I was running around getting the Cabaret started. :-D
We started at 8:20. Ghoul-A-Gogo (supplemental MCs) came out and John Sheehan (the real MC) was covered with a sheet in a strait jacket. Hilarity ensued. After Tim Russ performed, John Sheehan asked his wench, played by
jedisam to "Nerd Me". He was given his glasses and a Sonic Screwdriver.
Everyone who performed on the stage was awesome. Even
warkythechocobo performed!!! :-D One performer didn't even show up and Filthy Pierre, after requesting *AT THE CONVENTION* to perform, cancelled 5 mins. before he would have been performing. So, by the time Boogie Knights got up to perform, I told them that they could perform a Full set if they would like to because it was only 11pm and the show went till 1am. :-D
The final act of the night were the Brobdingnagian Bards. Unfortunately, Marc suffered a pretty severe nosebleed. So, Andrew came on stage and performed his Voltaire parody song, which was absolutely Hysterical! And then Marc weerily came on stage and they performed "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" with tissues plugging his nose.
The show was over at 11:40, so my staff and I took our sweet time to clean up, making sure that *everything* was back to the way it was. The building maintenance guy gave us thumbs up when he went in to clean and saw he didn't have to do anything :-P
Sunday: I don't know how we managed to do this, but we all slept in till about 10:30am. What?! Sleep during I-CON?! I call Shenanigans. I got ready pretty quickly and headed to the Con with
centur21 and Sean and we got to campus at 11:45, 15 mins before the Brobdingnagian Bards concert. They managed to play an entire set despite Marc getting another nosebleed halfway through the show. Poor Marc :(
After the concert I headed to the ISC for lunch and sat down at the table with Tim Russ. We were joined by
schnuder and others and we had a very amusing conversation about anything and everything for the next hour. Good Times :-D Apparently, Tim Russ has 2 projects coming up. Sweet :)
When Brian got to campus, he and I went back to the Dealer's Floor to purchase things that we didn't on Saturday. He bought a Turtle stuffed animal and a Guinea Pig stuffed animal. I ended up getting the Lamb Chop puppet because a random girl pointed it out to her friend and I *had* to get it. :-D Then we headed to the Garb people again and asked to purchase the display. It suits Brian beautifully :-D He looked damn good in the outfit. Then we wandered over to the booth that was selling D&D books and some games. Brian got some Forgotten Realms books and I picked up Cowpoker and Fictionary. I want to play these games with people, really, I do!!
We left the Con around 2:45 to head over to Faith and Dan's for the wedding reception. The food was yummy and the people were nice. We all made speeches for the bride and groom, which were both sentimental and entertaining. I bawled when Mike and Amanda danced to their first song.
And then came bouquet throwing time. There were 3 of us (Me, Mariah, and Jackie) who were the only females not engaged or married. I caught the bouquet, the other two cowered behind me in fear that they'd catch it. Hilarity ensued. Brian had a deer in headlights look on his face. It was adorable.
We headed back to his house to pick up my stuff and then I went home.
All in all, I-CON 27 is really fun. Hopefully next year with the venue change, it continues to be. :-D
