Words of Advice: Never walk 3.5 miles.

Case in point: So, the Suffolk Bus System fails at life. On Fridays, I have class at 3:05pm at QC. However, I have no other way to get to the Patchogue railroad station aside from taking the bus. Herein lies the issue. I was at the bus stop at 9:30am. Bus is supposed to get there 9:40am. It was now 10:10am and I figured I'd start walking and at every bus stop, look back to see if there's a bus there. Alas, no bus ever showed and I ended up walking the entire 3.5 miles (5.6 kilometers) to the train station. It took me an Hour and 20 mins, due to the traffic lights and the bastards in vehicles that wouldn't let me cross the street. I got to the station and onto the platform at 11:30am, when the train is scheduled to leave. by the time I got to the part of the platform where I could get onto the train, the train started to leave :( I missed my frakking train!!! The bus finally showed at 12pm. Either way, I would've missed my train.

The next train wasn't scheduled to come untill 1:13pm. So, after walking to the bagel shop to get lunch, I plopped myself down on the platform. This woman, her son, and this other woman with her son and daughter arrived at the station. They all know each other. One of the boys was wearing Heelies. These things should have NEVER been invented kthx. The kid was rolling around *on the platform* dangerously close to the edge. I was waiting for him to fall onto the tracks. All the while, his mom wasn't paying attention to this at all and he wheeled right by me. I resisted the urge to give him a nudge because I was too sore from the walk.

And then when the train was coming into the station, with the gates down, some jackass decided to ride his bicycle over the tracks on the street. The train was about 3 seconds away from hitting him. I have never heard this much frantic horn honking from a train before. Is it a bad thing that I hoped that the kid with the Heelies fell onto the track and that the guy on the bike got hit with the train??

I am very much in severe pain :( 3.5 miles is a far trek. I need a leg massage..

::SNORT::

Some of it was though... Also? You'd be surprised how steep an overpass is.

Hardly the worst thing in the world you big baby. My car broke down and I had to run the whole way home to get the wife's car and get to work made the whole 5 kilometer trek in 20 minutes. Go go gadget x-country training.

Therein lies the difference. You were a Cross Country runner. Also? 5km is a shorter distance. Though, that still sucks.

Ah nuts, I wrote a long reply and the LJ monster ate it. Basically it said

"3.5 miles? Wuss!!!!"

I've pushed my motorcycle 19 miles when it broke down and walked 25 miles home from a beerfest very, very drunk, though I was sobre by the time I got home.

Yes, but I'm sure that you didn't have to walk that amount of miles as quickly as you possibly can without keeling over and dying.
