The answer to yesterday's question was: Who is Ludwig van Beethoven? Nearly everyone got it right! YAAAAY!

It seems we have reached the Double Jeopardy! round for the week. Today's question is worth $400:

The Category: 1912: 100 Years Ago

The Answer: It sank in April, en route to New York City.

Good luck, and remember, NO CHEATING!!

What is the Titanic?

Alternatively: What is a question that's way too easy to be Double Jeopardy, and belongs in Trivial Pursuit?

Yes to both answers!! When I flipped to this question I had to ::Facepalm:: because of it being a Double Jeopardy! question. LOL

What is Titanic? ...as it was indeed referred to at the time, not "The Titanic."

And by the way, I do still like and defend James Cameron's film. I've never thought it was perfect, and I'm still not convinced it'll be a genuine classic, but I think it's damn good.

I liked the movie too! I even saw it twice in theatres, though arguably the 2nd time was because my friends and I were not allowed to see Half-Baked and that was the only other movie playing that we didn't have to wait forever to see, as it was in the same time slot Half-Baked was.

I need to see Half-Baked. I could've seen it in 1998 and been even more aware of Dave Chappelle then than I was. I'd only seen him in a few clips of Robin Hood: Men in Tights -- he got publicity for the part in the Washington Post, as he had D.C. connections at the time -- and, of course, Con Air. ("...as they say in Ebonics, we be fucked.")

I saw Titanic at least three times in theaters. Of course that was easy, as it hung around for MONTHS. At least into April '98. That might have been one reason The Big Lebowski (March '98 release) didn't make much an impression then.

Half-Baked is both hilarious and really dumb, BOTH AT THE SAME TIME! I'd watch it again :-P

That might have been one reason The Big Lebowski (March '98 release) didn't make much an impression then.

Most likely the #1 reason why.

What was the Titanic

>.> as an interesting side note (since I know Alex loves personal stories) if the Titanic had not been full, I may very likely not have been born. My great-grandparents were in Britain at the time and wanted to return on the Titanic but by the time they got around to getting their steamship tickets to return to Canada there was no room left (and they were not of the steerage class...heavens!) so they sailed on a different ship instead.

My grandmother, incidentally, was born May 21, 1913

Oh wow! I'm glad they didn't board the Titanic, otherwise, we wouldn't be having the conversation right now! Yikes!

Yeah, no kidding!

I went to the Titanic exhibit when it came to town a few years ago and...yeah, really fricking spooky, given my family history and all that. I mean, the thing is spooky enough anyway, but when you add that in...yeah...

When did the RMS Titanic sink?

Hurray, one that even I know! Though I knew the Johnny Cash one, too, I just didn't see it until you already gave the answer.
