Last weekend was the weekend when Freaks, Geeks, Nerds, and Dorks happen upon SUNY Stony Brook for an annual Science Fiction/Fantasy/Fact Convention. This was my 10th I-CON. :) I had a Tooooooooooooooooooon of fun, as I usually do, being surrounded by the people I love.

The Con, for me, in bullet points:

FRIDAY
  • Got my Staff badge and hung out/helped out in Staff/Program Participant/Guest badges until the fire alarm went off.
  • Helped Bill Burns bring in Snacks/drinks for Membership/Disabilities
  • Glomped [livejournal.com profile] hoskie :)
  • Hologrammed badges.
  • Membership opened at 4:30. Worked Pre-Reg. I ended up giving [livejournal.com profile] dqg_neal his badge :)
  • Off at 6pm. Was swayed by the prospect of getting food with [livejournal.com profile] karistan and [livejournal.com profile] dqg_neal. Out went the window of what I was originally planning to do.
  • Had tasty dinner, went to the hotel, and filmed a very silly video.
  • We then met up with [livejournal.com profile] kradical and [livejournal.com profile] wrenn and went to the Meet the Pros party, which I had never gone to. Was neat. I got to see a 4mite I hadn't seen in a year and it was fun to introduce him to everyone :-P
  • Soon after, we hightailed it back to campus for [livejournal.com profile] kradical and [livejournal.com profile] dqg_neal to be part of the I-CON 30 edition of DESTINIES: THE VOICE OF SCIECE FICTION, where I then met up with Barbara and Sean.
  • After that, myself, Barbara, and Sean bumped into [livejournal.com profile] slimgatsby in the parking lot, who invited us to Denny's.
  • We got home and collapsed around 2am.

    SATURDAY
  • Back at Membership bright and early at 9am. Hologrammed badges & then worked Non-Reg from 9:30 til a little after Noon with [livejournal.com profile] alorarose.
  • Met up with Amy and Joe. Hung out in the lounge with them for a while.
  • Went to Uncle Kage's Story Hour. He's hilarious. :)
  • Headed over to Javits where Voltaire was supposed to have a Stop Motion Panel, but transportation issues arose, so that was cancelled.
  • Hung out on the couch until the Julie Benz Q&A was over so that I could head back over to the SAC with [livejournal.com profile] alorarose. Hung out a bit with Anon while waiting.
  • Then we saw [livejournal.com profile] wormquartet who I absolutely adore. After his show, I bought all of his CDs :-P
  • Grabbed lunch.
  • Headed to the Dealer's Room. Woooo stuff I can't afford!
  • Hilariously got caught in the rain. [livejournal.com profile] hoskie took pictures. Really. Hilarious. I was laughing the whole way. I needed a towel by the time we got back over to the SAC. Stupid wind.
  • Saw Bonnie, who gave me an adorable card with pictures of her baby... d'awwwwwwwww
  • Headed upstairs to join [livejournal.com profile] karistan, [livejournal.com profile] wrenn, [livejournal.com profile] kradical, and Carol in the lounging area. Seriously, the couches up there are really comfy. [livejournal.com profile] kradical zonked out for a bit. [livejournal.com profile] alorarose joined us upstairs.
  • When [livejournal.com profile] kradical woke up, he signed all the stuff I had brought for him to sign. There were some hilarious personalizations. "Why... Why?!" was what he wrote for GARGANTUA. I love [livejournal.com profile] kradical :)
  • [livejournal.com profile] alorarose and I headed to [livejournal.com profile] kradical's panel "Writing in a Setting the Fans Know Better Than You" which was amusing :)
  • Dinner was at John Harvard's with EVERYBODY I have already mentioned (minus Hoskie and Wormquartet), plus some other people who were really nifty.
  • Headed back to campus for Voltaire's Midnight show.
  • Bumped into [livejournal.com profile] tropism and we caught up on each other's lives.
  • Found out Howard Margolin (host of DESTINIES) won I-CON's Got Talent. Continued to talk to Howie pretty much up until show time for Voltaire.
  • So glad Voltaire was given an hour and a half. That meant actually getting to hear his old stuff :)
  • Headed back home with Barbara and Sean.

    SUNDAY
  • Dammit, last day of I-CON already?? ::Pouty face:: Worked Non-Reg with [livejournal.com profile] alorarose until 11:30am.
  • I got [livejournal.com profile] dqg_neal to come with us to see Captain Zorikh perform. I adore him too. :)
  • Then it was off to [livejournal.com profile] kradical's panel "Mongols to Klingons". Despite not knowing what they were really going to talk about, the panel worked out fine :) It was entertaining and informative. :) And I bought Star Trek Captain's Log: Jellico \o/
  • Went to another [livejournal.com profile] wormquartet performance :)
  • And now it was time to spend money on the Dealer's Floor. On our way there, we bumped into [livejournal.com profile] auntiesiannan and [livejournal.com profile] phantomtoe and they gave me SOCKS!! Ended up walking to the ISC with [livejournal.com profile] wormquartet and his wife Kim. I didn't spend money at the Duck table, but I got new readers for [livejournal.com profile] greyduck's webcomic Quacked Panes
  • Ended up purchasing books from Patrick Thomas, who I had met back in February at [livejournal.com profile] dqg_neal's 40th bday party.
  • All money I spent on Merch went to people I know personally. SCORE!! :)

All in all it was a great Convention, as it always is. Can't wait until next year to do it all again!!
