Today, I went to the movies with [livejournal.com profile] alorarose and Brian. It was decided a few days ago that we would see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I, and Tangled. Five dollar matinees are awesome, for the record. We had 30 minutes between the two movies to stretch.

I'm going to try my hardest to not include spoilers. This will be rather difficult, to tell you the truth, but try I might.

Out of all the Harry Potter movies, this one is the darkest. The focus of the film was mainly on Harry, Hermoine & Ron, as they set out on their own, the latter 2 protecting Harry from Voldemort. The first half was filled with silly antics that involved drinking potions and flushing themselves down toilets. The 2nd half was akin to Lord of the Rings in that they did a lot of travelling on foot (and I do mean A LOT).

Throughout the movie, there was reflection on the loss of Dumbledore. An interesting story was told about three brothers that brings to light an oft used symbol in the movie. That is all I will say on the matter, otherwise I'd end up spoiling everything (and we wouldn't want that).

All in all, I enjoyed the movie. I wouldn't call it the BEST MOVIE OF THE SERIES ZOMG!!! But, from what I gathered from friends of mine, the movie followed the book a lot closer than the other Potter movies did, so there's that.

Tangled is the story of Rapunzel. The movie essentially follows the whole fairy tale. If you are one to not be familiar with Rapunzel, fear not! You can still enjoy the HELL out of this movie. In classic Disney fashion, you have the evil mother, the fair damsel, and the arrogant-yet-charming male character. Boy meets girl; girl has cast iron pan and knows how to use it! And you can't go wrong with little ceramic unicorns. Just sayin'.

I laughed! I cried! I laughed some more!! And I garauntee you'll laugh too, if you see the movie.

The Biggest operative expression, is that Harry Potter followed the book.

Tangled was quite cute, and they must have gotten some of the facial expressions from the voice actors themselves (Mandy Moore - Rapunzel, Zachary Levi (Chuck) - Flynn, Donna Moore - Evil (babystealing) step-mom)
