Tonight, Brian and I went on our annual Christmas Light display tour. We seek out the crazy, most absurd displays imaginable. Unfortunately, we didn't get to all of them because people shut down their lights at some point before we got there. Oh well, here are the highlights:

House on Lincoln Ave. This was our first stop. We were tipped off about this one by my friend Kristin. Thank you for the suggestion!! We will definitely revisit this house next year!

Tron House. Every year, they do something different. This year, they decided to incorporate music, so we tuned to 107.3 and listened to the entire song (damned if I remember how it went).

Tron House again. I told Brian to take video of this house, but alas he did not.

Absurd house!! Last year, this house was tuned to music. This year, no music, but still completely absurd.

Another view of Absurd house!!

Random house we spotted on our way to another destination.

Crazy house on Avenue A in Ronk!! There was a dog sitting at the front door. I told Brian he was part of the display. LOL.

After that, we stopped for dinner at Jimmy's (YAY Sushi!!) We didn't get any more pictures because the houses were not as crazy. We'll likely do another run to catch other houses, like the one suggested by [livejournal.com profile] alorarose.

Is it any wonder everyone thinks Americans are crazy?!

Think of the carbon footprints!
Think of the electricity bills!

Also, tastelessness.

Tron House is cool though...

I'm sure a good chunk of the houses we passed by had their lights up at the beginning of November too. I always have to wonder just how much their electric bills go up during these months. It's all crazy!!

And yeah, Tron house is really awesome. The first 2 years, it was Giftwrap house. Nothing fancy, just a blanket of lights. Then they changed to these crazy lights last year, but they weren't set to music, so they just stayed lit up. And this year, they added music :-P

That's a great site, but they only gave us one location out in Glen Cove for all of Long Island, and we didn't want to drive out that far.

Personally, I'd like to go over to Dyker Heights, Brooklyn (Brian didn't want to go there either, but he's never seen the lights over there before), so I told him, at some point I'm taking him out there so he can see the insane, yet awesome, displays that they have competitions for and to Canarsie to see Guarino's Funeral Home. It used to be a tradition of my family's to drive past Guarino's during the holidays (we lived in Bklyn until I was 3.5 years old) and we did this every year up until my grandma, uncle, and aunt moved to West Virginia 5 years ago, because we no longer had a real reason to go all the way to Brooklyn... So, I haven't seen that display in 5 years and I'd like to.
