ProTip: Never take 18 credits in one semester. No matter how tempting it is to get classes out of the way, DON'T. DO. IT. EVER!

As of yesterday at 6:30pm, Fall 2010 semester from HELL finally ended!! So, what do I have to show for it? Enough sleep dep to last a lifetime. And after all my effort that I exuded for DOOM project, my professor rejected my chapter. Thankfully, he has given me an incomplete (and there were 4 other people that got rejected as well, so I'm not the only one). If he had failed me, I don't know what I would have done. The class is extremely difficult and my one *absolute requirement* to graduate with my degree. ::Headdesk::

Speaking of graduating, Queens College isn't offering any classes I actually need next semester. So far, I'm signed up for 2 classes, but that's not enough to reach 12 credits. I'm so sick of college it's not even funny. Can I *please* go back to being a Music Ed major... please?!!! Sadly, the only way that can happen is if I transfer again, and that's not happening. I learned my lesson the first time :(

So, aside from being eaten by finals, I've been keeping myself occupied on my commutes, when not travelling with #crankys, by listening to podcasts. If you guys aren't listening to The Chronic Rift or Fanboy Remix, you really should be. They're both really great. I tweet about them all the time, but I guess I've never actually mentioned them here. I'll leave that for another post, that I actually have time to write because I'm done for the semester!! ::ahem::

Before I close this post out, I'd like to Welcome all my new readers (and welcome back an old one) that have cropped up over the last month: [ profile] tarzanic, [ profile] amandanoelle82, [ profile] yendi, [ profile] hiatazealo, and [ profile] drewshi!! You're all awesome :)

As some of you already know, I had to go on a field trip for my Geology class. My lab section went yesterday, with some other sections. The field trip brought us to the Rock Hill quarry in Essex county, NJ and to Orchard Beach in the Bronx.

We were informed on Thursday during lab that we had to be at Queens College no later than 7:45am. Charter buses would be leaving promptly at 8am. Brian and I left his place around 6:15am so that we would have enough time to sit down and have breakfast at a diner near campus. I got to campus at 7:45 and no one else was there except for me, all the lab instructors, and the buses. Within 5 mins, most of the students arrived and we were able to board the buses. After we boarded, the driver decided to spray bathroom spray in the bus (he couldn't do that *before* we boarded??) We ended up leaving around 8:15am.

Field Trip Part the 1st: )

I got back to the bus around 11:45. We ate our lunches on the bus (I brought a Tuna sandwich from Subway...mmmmm) and at Noon we started heading to Orchard Beach in the Bronx! Woohoo!!

Field Trip Part the 2nd: )

Brian came and got me and then we ended up going to Friendly's for dinner. Nom nom nom...

All in all a good day. My legs still ache though...

Apparently, CUNY wants to raise tuition about $100/credit, which means a student who has 12 credits will be paying $1200 more per semester. WHAT THE FUCK?!

In addition to this, they want to reduce TAP and reduce the faculty.

So not happy about this!

Due to the impending storm AND the rally going on tomorrow (more on that after announcement), I will not be going to school tomorrow.

So...While I was on the bus going from QC to Jamaica, the bus driver was on his cell phone. He was talking to another collegue about Rallying tomorrow in front of Local 100 (Transit Workers Union) with fellow MTA workers. I didn't catch what it was about or what time it's going to happen, aside from something about timing, or something.

I'm glad that I lost track of time and missed the bus I would have caught, otherwise, I wouldn't have known about this. There has been no mention on the news or anything about this rally. My mom thinks it could be a Wildcat Strike, where the MTA doesn't know that this is going to happen.

I didn't pass the Listening Exam. -_- Crap-fucking-tacular. I'm not good at identifying pieces when they are started somewhere in the middle of the pieces >_<

Click for updated grades

Apparently, Queens College gives A+'s. It didn't effect my GPA that I figured out..but it's definitely something. :-D

And I figured out my Cumulative average wrong because I compared this semester with a different semester than Fall 2006.. but that's ok cause I fixed it! :-D

This is how I did this semester:

Theory/Counterpoint/Piano: B+ (I had a bad test grade somewhere in the mix (76 on the 2nd one...fuck Parallels! Though according to Wykoff I rocked the Theory Final with an 87 so I am happy)
Sightsinging/Dictation: A
QC Chorus: A
Music001: A+ (with an A+ on my Beatles analysis. Mind you, I handed that paper in a MONTH late)
Intro to Dance: B (because I'm poor and was only able to go to 1 dance performance. However, Group project we scored an A!!)

Semester GPA: 3.575

So, this means that my Cumulative average (between Fall Semester and this semester) is 3.237 (Originally calculated this wrong...oh well..)

Sweeeeeeeet :-D

She *totally* deserved it!!!!! Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

"The Rain in Spain Stays Mainly in the Plain" should be on *every* music final I ever take. Seriously, it took a lot of control to not sing along. :)

So...Today was my Dance Final, and I must say that myself, Eileen and Xue did a damn good job :) Choreographing a 5 minute dance is quite a challenge.

Anyway, as per usual, Eileen and I, upon arriving at Jamaica Station, walk over to McD's to get an iced coffee. Today, we were running late and decided the hell with it, let's just go and then catch a later train. I am soooo glad we decided to do that because when we left McD's, I bumped into Jessica Potter. I haven't seen that girl since High School graduation. Crazy, right??

She was in Queens because that's where her mother lives but she was on her way back to Farmingdale :) We caught up on each other's lives and it was awesome!! :-D

So, it pays to grab an iced coffee, even if it means missing your train. Because you never know when the next time will be that you run into someone you haven't seen in 6 years.

This weekend was filled with awesome. On Friday, I went to Fort Henry and spent the night, but I had to be home by 10:30am Saturday morning to do laundry...bah.

Aside from laundry on Saturday, I did nothing else. So, essentially, Saturday sucked.

Sunday, however, was awesome. Brian picked me up and I drove from here to Tanger Outlet in Riverhead. Parking Lot of evil -_- Brian had to get himself sneakers, which was why we went to Tanger. Three pairs of sneakers and one pair of boots later, we were done. We went back to Fort Henry and watched "The Big Lebowski." Great movie. I highly suggest it if you've never seen it.

Today was President's Day, so I didn't have class today! Huzzah!! Instead, I drove some more. I'm getting a lot better, though I still have some things I need to work out.

So, that was my weekend. This week is going to kick my ass though with having to be on campus till 10pm and then head to my friend's house in Brooklyn for the night because of the stupid timing of trains and such and the fact that I have class early in the morning next day. Blah.

Who Wants to House a Bonnie?

This semester, some of my Chorus rehearsals occur untill 10pm. Because of this, if I were to attempt to go home afterwards, I'd not get home untill 1am. Being as I have class the next morning, this will not be possible.

This is why I am asking my friends who live in Queens or Nassau County if they can house me on the following days:

Wednesday Feb. 21st
Wednesday March 21st
Wednesday May 9th
Wednesday May 16th
Thursday May 17th

I have to be back on campus by 9am the morning I would need to get to a train by 8am, or to a bus at whatever time I'd need to to get to Queens College.

If you can house me for any or all of those days, leave a comment....

Thanks :)

Ok, so, my 1st week of class for Spring semester has come and gone. Here are some highlihgts:

Monday: ACSM is on fire. Welcome back to school.

Tuesday: On the way into Queens, a man in my train car decided today would be a good day to get arrested. Spent a Half hour in Babylon before we moved. I got to my 9:15am class 5 mins late.

Wednesday: While waiting for my mom to pick me up from Patchogue train station, Jehovah's Witnesses decided to offer me some reading material. No thank you!!

Thursday: Dance class of DOOOOOOOOM!! I used muscles that I haven't used in 10 years. Sooooo sore from that. But I felt great afterwards :)

Friday: On the way into Queens, a little passed the Mineola train station, the switch to change tracks broke. No, really. It was broken!!!! So, after a bit of time, they had us travel to East Willeston (which is east of where we were) on the Oyster Bay line. Apparently that was the closest place to go to switch tracks. Got into Jamaica at 9am, 45 mins later than when we were supposed to get in. I got to class at 9:35am. Sooooo annoyed.

When I got back to Patchogue I had two choices: Wait 30 mins for an unreliable bus, or walk home. I chose the latter. Today's journey was 4miles because instead of walking up East Main St. to 101 to Hospital road, I decided to go up 112 to Barton (by way of Clark and Washington) to Hospital. Took me an hour and a half to get home. Not bad considering I was wearing my black boots that aren't good for walking that long of a distance (I have blisters from them!).

So, ACSM was on fire today...literally. I got to campus around 9:15am, walk into the building and the fire alarm goes off. We were evacuated and hordes of Firefighters went into the building. I'm not sure what actually was on fire, but we were outside for quite a while before being allowed back into the building. (As an aside: if only the LJ Voice post system wasn't down, I would've made a voice post as this was happening...oh well..)

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. I got into the Chorus, mainly because the day that the Choir is performing at Carnegie Hall, I have a wedding to go to. So, there was no way I could get into the Choir this semester. ::shrug::

Oh yea, and retardo class? Is exactly that. Huzzah for easy A class :-D

Records rock my world!! So, yesterday, they were giving away records in the music building for FREE. I ended up obtaining 2 records. Deniece Williams "Let's Hear it for the Boy" the complete album, and Debbie Gibson "Out of the Blue" single. I knew there was a reason why records are extremely awesome: On the B-side of Out of the Blue is a completely instrumental version of the song. Kick ass!! :-D

OMG part 2
