This question was posed to me on Facebook this morning and it made me wonder what others would choose. So, now I pass the question along to my lovely friends list :)

If you could only have five great science fiction literary works, what would they be?

bonnie_rocks: (Default)
I was going through pictures on a friend's facebook page because they put up a new album, and this picture was part of it:

Picture under cut )

I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!!

If there's one thing I've acquired from my friendship with [ profile] chris_walsh (and I have gotten so much from it. I really am glad to be friends with you.) it's actually blogging more. What can I say? You inspire me :)

So, Chris asked me to compile a list of all the bands/musicians I've ever seen ever. This list will also include local bands because some have actually gone on to be famous (which is awesome for them!), as well as groups I've seen at Conventions. The only thing garaunteed to be in order on this list is my first concert ever, which happened on April 14, 1997 at Madison Square Garden. What a crazy night that was! If you ask nicely, I'll tell you that story. I'm even in the music video for "Cold Contagious". The lesser known/local acts will be at the bottom of the list. If you want to know anything about any of these bands/musicians, I'll be more than happy to indulge your questions.

The List

Veruca Salt (opened for Bush)
Stone Temple Pilots
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Tori Amos (I got to meet her!!!! so awesome)
Alanis Morrissette
Gin Blossoms
Early Edison
Counting Crows
Jonathan Coulton
The Turtles (YAY for B-103 Oldies concerts on the beach!)
Three Days Grace
Dream Theater
Kid Rock
Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Joan Jett (she joined TSO on stage)
NY Philharmonic
LI Philharmonic
Royal Philharmonic
Regina Spektor (Before she was famous! Penn Station is good for something, apparently.)
Fair Warning
48 in the Basement
Hidden Agenda
The Microwave Orphans
Patent Pending
Ants Marching
Silent Generosity
Brian Verderosa
Squeaky Clean
The Hip Pickles
The Boogie Knights (Hi [ profile] kradical & [ profile] boogiebabe_smap!!)
The Brobdingnagian Bards (Hi [ profile] marcgunn!!)
Emerald Rose
Kenny Young & the Eggplants
Captain Zorikh (The Death Star Repair Man)
Sudden Death/Devo Spice (Hi [ profile] devospice!!)
Worm Quartet (Hi [ profile] wormquartet!!)

The Absinthe Drinkers

Hey Nunnie Nunnie

If you have a question that you have wanted to ask me, this is the post to do it in!!

You can ask me about anything and everything and I will respond to the best of my ability.

It could be about me, not about me, asking for advice... anything. Really!

So, what are you waiting for??

Ask away!!!

bonnie_rocks: (Default)
And just because some of these questions deserve more than a Yes/No, I give you...

Explainations )

bonnie_rocks: (Default)

1. You can only answer "yes" or "no."

2. You are NOT ALLOWED to explain ANYTHING unless someone messages/comments you and asks. And believe me, the temptation to explain some of these will be overwhelming. Even then, you are allowed to refrain from answering if necessary.

3. It's harder than it looks, but NO explanations! Just don't!

4. A change to the rules - add one of your own at the bottom of the list. (I didn't do that)

Meeeeeeeeeeme )

Snurched from both [ profile] kradical and [ profile] chris_walsh. Enjoy!

1.) Do you have any pets? Sadly, no. I used to have a dog named Josh. He lived until the ripe old age of 3 months shy of 16. He died 7 years ago :( When Brian and I move in together, I will acquire his pet turtle, Dee.

2.) Name three things that are physically close to you: A glass of water, the TV remote, and my "Sesame Street: A Celebration -- 40 years of Life on the Street" book.

3.) What's the weather like right now? Actually pleasant enough to not need to turn on the AC.

4.) Do you drive, and if so do you crash? I am currently learning. I drive every chance I get to. This is a HUGE step for me. No, I do not crash. I only do with Bumper Cars.

5.) What time did you wake up this morning? 8:15am.

6.) When was the last time you showered? Yesterday.

7.) What was the last movie you saw? In theaters? "Inception". On DVD? "Ponyo".

8.) What does your last text message say? My Tweets from my phone don't count, so the last Text Message I sent was: Alright. Being dragged to bed now. Goodnight, Keith!

9.) What's your ringtone? "Boléro" by Ravel, programmed into my phone by me using the composer's tool /geek.

10.) Have you ever been to a different country? Yep. Been to Canada a few times :)

11.) Do you like sushi? Do I? Abso-fucking-lutely!

12.) Where do you buy your groceries? If shopping with my mom, Stop & Shop. With Brian, primarily Trader Joes, but sometimes King Kullen.

13.) Have you ever taken medication to fall asleep faster? Nope.

14.) How many siblings do you have? Just one, four years older than me, and his name is Scott. :)

15.) Do you have a desktop computer or laptop? Both!! I'm currently doing this from my laptop.

16.) How long till your next birthday? Nine months and 3 days. And to get technical, as of writing this answer: Nine months, 3 days, 5 hours, 3 mins. (I was born at 8:21am).

17.) Do you wear contacts or glasses? Glasses. For quite a few years, Contacts were my primary source for being able to see, but the company that made my contacts stopped making the Monthlies, and went to two-week ones, which my eyes never adjusted to.

18.) Do you color your hair? Never...well, there was that one time back in 1997 that my friends and I sprayed blue into our hair, that washed out in one that doesn't exactly count.

19.) Tell me something you're planning on doing today. Staying in pajamas (or less) because I plan on doing NOTHING today as I am recouping from vacation.

20.) When was the last time you cried? Oh geez...the last time I cried was a few weeks ago. Not getting into it. Those in the know already know.

21.) What is your perfect pizza topping? Veggies!!!!!! And extra cheese...because why the fuck not?!

22.) Do you prefer hamburger or cheeseburger? It really depends. Usually cheeseburger, but I've had some pretty epic Hamburgers.

23.) Have you ever had an all nighter? The last successful productive all-nighter I pulled was my first semester at QC. I had a 10-page Research paper due. I got an A on that paper. Booyah! Can't do that now though, no matter how hard I try. In non-productive all-nighters, those are always fun, especially when that all-nighter involves tracking a red eye flight. ;)

24.) What is your eye color? Hazel.

25.) Can you taste the difference between Pepsi and Coke? Yep. But nowadays, I avoid both like the plague. I stopped regularly drinking soda back in 11th grade, and in more recent years, I avoid it because they're all laden with High Fructose Corn Syrup. Fuck that shit.

Brought to my LJ by none other than [ profile] chris_walsh.

And now, the rules:

1. If you'd like to play along, reply to this post and I'll assign you a letter.
2. You then list (and upload or link to the video, if you feel like it) 5 songs that start with that letter.
3. Then, as I'm doing here, you'll post the list to your journal with the instructions.

[ profile] chris_walsh gave me the letter G. :)

1. "Green Knights" by Silent Generosity. For those who don't know, SG is a band from LI that I am really good friends with. The video I linked to is from when Dennis was still with the band. I miss Dennis :( Ryan Parise: Lead and Vocals, Dennis March: Rhythm, Charles Shada: Bass, and Jason Busswell: Drums. Oooooooh yeaaaaaahhh :-D
2. "Glycerine" by Bush. This song brings me back to when I would sit in my friend Norah's (who was my first girl crush. I swear if she never moved away... you see where this is going) bedroom and watch this video on repeat with her. This was the first "pop" song I taught myself on the Guitar. Bush was the first band I saw live in concert, back in April 1997.
3. "Grey Street" by Dave Matthews Band. I LOVE DMB. 'Nuff said.
4. "Good Enough" by Sarah McLachlan. Nowadays, whenever I listen to anything by Sarah McLachlan, I have myself a good cry because I remember the person who got me into Sarah, who tragically lost his life in a fatal car accident with his sister :(
5. "Going Under" by Evanescence. Wow...just looking up this video was crazy :-P Creeptastic video of a group I used to listen to ALL THE TIME. Since then, my music tastes have moved soooooo far away. I still very very occassionally listen to it though.

1. The first article title on the page is the name of your band.
2. The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
3. The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post it in your own journal.
